Donatello, Master of the Renaissance, in our Era

RECENT PRESENTATIONS:

Donatello’s ability to bring powerful expression and realistic aesthetics to his sculpture contributed significantly in forging new vigorous humanistic perspectives in art. This approach was a fundamental one in establishing the Renaissance as the era of glorified universal themes, both in content and form across multiple artistic media.

In interpreting the spirit of the changing environment where he lived, Donatello left a legacy of timeless, eloquent inspiration. Future artists learned from, then incorporated, the epic and pathos in the Florentine Master’s body of work with their own interpretation of humanistic motives.

In the aftermath of the grand exhibition on Donatello’s works staged in Florence in the spring/summer of 2022, this presentation highlights several of the artist’s favored themes as they reappeared throughout his masterpieces.
